MALE INFERTILITY

Male infertility
refers to the inability of a male to achieve a pregnancy in a fertile female. In humans it accounts for 40-50% of infertility. Male infertility is commonly due to deficiencies in the semen, and semen quality is used as a surrogate measure of male fecundity
Male infertility is the cause of almost 7 % of the world's couples being unable to conceive a child even though they've had frequent, unprotected sexual intercourse for a year or longer
Not being able to conceive a child can be stressful and frustrating, but a number of male infertility treatments are available. Approaches can include treatment for the male partner, the female partner, or both.
There are many causes of Male infertility , such as
  • Low sperm production
  • Immobile sperm
  • Blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm
  • Undescended testicles
  • Different types of Infections

It's important to identify and treat any correctable problems. In most men, a doctor's exam may find an underlying medical problem that is causing the infertility. Men should hence get themselves checked for infertility regularly.
Some controllable Lifestyle decisions can help Men in reducing the possibility of Male Infertility:
  • Avoiding smoking as it damages sperm DNA
  • Avoiding heavy marijuana and alcohol use.
  • Avoiding excessive heat to the testes.
  • Sperm counts can be depressed by daily coital activity and sperm motility may be depressed by coital activity that takes place too infrequently (abstinence 10–14 days or more).
  • When participating in contact sports, wear an Protective Cup and Jockstrap to protect the testicles. Take precautions when indulging in any sport where a ball, foot, arm, knee or bat can come into contact with the groin.
